VPE .NET from web service

Postby starzen » Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:45 pm

Have been using VPE for years using the DLL interface

Am playing around with the thought of using it in some .net projects as well.
Playing around with trying to get some of the same functionality we have using it with DataFlex by creating a similar class library for .net.

To test i downloaded a current version of the professional as well as standard edition as the class library is meant to be use from either.

Had test program (windows deskop app) working then i tried using the class from a web service. Works fine when using the professional but when using the standard edition i get an error about being unable to load the VPES3271.DLL when calling OpenDoc.

Is this a limitation of the Standard edition or am i running into some other issue?

thanks

It is possible that the Standard Edition can not be loaded from a web service, I don't remember exactly. Anyway, editions below the Professional Edition can not be used in services and other multi-threaded environments, as they are not thread-safe.

You should also remember to enable multi-threading within VPE, when using VPE in multi-threaded applications.
