Hello Ideal-Team,
we heard about a new VPE Version 4.0 supporting 2D barcode types

that will be released this year. Is that true and when will it be?

This is correct. VPE v4.0 will be able to create the following 2D barcode types:

- PDF 417
- DataMatrix
- MaxiCode
- Aztec

The release date is not clear yet, but approximately in Q4 2006.

We have currently no plans to support the QR barcode, since it is not widely used. The most used 2D barcode is the Data Matrix barcode.

But we can always implement new features in the background of an individual programming contract. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail for the details.

Hello team,

I'm trying to encode a string that contains slovenian characters (like š,Ž, etc...) into Aztec barcode, but I don't know how. This sequence:

myVpeControl.RenderAztec(slovenianText, 0, 0,

myVpeControl.Aztec(myVpeControl.nLeft, myVpeControl.nBottom + 50, myVpeControl.nLeft + myVpeControl.nRenderWidth, myVpeControl.nBottom + 50 + myVpeControl.nRenderHeight, slovenianText);

seems to omit the slovenian chars.
I'm using Virtual Print Engine Professional Edition, ver.4.0.4.5427

Barcodes in regular do only support the ASCII charset.

In october 2009 the QR code wasn't widely used, but nowadays with smartphones QR codes are used more and more. I don't really need them now, but in the entertainment industry (theatres) you see them more and more on publicity materials (like play bills).

Has any progress been made on 'QR Codes'? More and more customers are asking for a scanable code on documents to access in-depth information options.

Then we have good news, VPE v6.20 will generate QR Code. The release is planned for about April next year.

Do you have a release date of incluiding QR Barcode in VPE soon? next month or this year, because I'm planning to release my software, so I wanted to incluide it, directly in the reporte without using a third party generated code.
