VPE 6.1 - outlook2010/exchange problem

We are testing vpe 6.1 now, because we would like to upgrade our soft to this version. We have done several tests with different combinations of windows versions and outlook versions. For the 64bit versions i assume we'll have to wait until VPE 64bit is released.

Our biggest concern now in the tests is sending e-mail using VPE. The programming language is Progress/OpenEdge. But we can reproduce the problem also in de demo of VPE (without Progress). When we let VPE show a preview of a demo-report and then push the button for e-mail, VPE (outlook?) hangs. This occurs on pc's with WIndows/Vista + Outlook 2010 and WIndows 7(32bit) + Outlook2010 (office 2010/32bit). Both PC's are configured with an e-mailaccount on a exchange server.

In the demo of VPE, VPE hangs, and we can only kill/terminate the task. The weird thing is that when we do it from our application, sending e-mail from VPE-preview, or e-mail directly from our soft with an dialogbox, our soft hangs. But when we then kill or terminate our application, a dialogbox of Outlook2010 suddenly pops up so we can e-mail. Sending e-mail from our application without showing a dialog box in outlook2010 works fine.

Another weird thing is that when we add a (fake) pop3-mailaccount in OutLook2010 and set this as default, VPE works fine.
Sending e-mail from our application also works fine when there is no VPE-document attached. For instance, when we clear the attachments and first save our vpe-report before sending e-mail, it works even with a dialog-box:

RUN VpeAddMailAttachment in lhVpe(hDoc, "c:\tmp\doc.pdf", "").
run VpeMailDoc in lhVpe(hDoc, output x1).

We use the VPE-dll in Progress (not the OCX). Is this e-mail problem a known issue? Most of our customers use Outlook/Office 2010. Therefore we need a solution before we can continue our tests for a possible upgrade of VPE.

Otherwise we have to modify our code and use VPE_BEFORE_MAIL and let Progress do the work for sending e-mail. But this is not the preferred solution for us. Until now we didn't interpret the messages generated by VPE. We have no experience with this in Progress.

I hope someone can help us or give some hints.

Sounds strange. We have no Exchange server, we tested with Outlook via our IMAP Linux server. Technically, we see no reason why it should work with POP via Exchange, but not directly with Exchange. It has no logic. This is one of many things, for which we do like Microsoft: nothing works as it should. We will see how we can test this and we will let you know.

Update. We changed the code and sent the customer the updated version. His tests are all positive. We will provide this patch with the next official service release within 2 - 4 weeks.

We are also having this problem.
Our VPE 6.1 does not mail with outlook 2010.
Is there an existing upgrade to fix this problem?
