Demo Banner on Windows Server 2008

We are still using VPE 3.60 R2 - on a Windows Server 2008 we are seeing demo banners even so we have properly entered license on the build machine (it is a .NET application) as well as put our Server License on the server.

Any ideas? Any known issues with VPE 3.60 R2 on Win2008 related to licensing?

Windows Server 2008 was not available at the time v3.60 was released (v3.60 is from 2004). I suggest you update to the current version v6.0.

This answer is what I expected but it is not acceptable in my opinion. First of all there is no Enterprise version of 6.0 available (which one is the highest which has the Enterprise version?). Second the effort is simply not qualified - all what we need works just your licensing mechanism seems to be broken. I would understand that you are not willing to fix any problem but forcing us to upgrade just because your server licensing doesn't detect the platform correct (as it seems) is not at all a user friendly solution.

Any better ideas?

The Enterprise Edition is of course available. It is in the "dycodoc" section of our website. In our webshop it is still named "VPE Enterprise Edition". The good news: server licenses have been dropped starting with VPE v4.0 and higher. You can install and use VPE v6.0 on as many servers as you like without additional cost. No demo banners shown.

Regarding the problem with VPE v3.60: Please understand that we can not fix problems in a product version, which is more than 6 years old and which does not work with current versions of Windows.

VPE 3.60 works perfectly fine for us on Win2008 - just the license check is broken.

Anyway - will see what we will do. Upgrading VPE is the least option that I consider just to fix a broken license check without any other benefit.

If you would have implemented the long outstanding Unicode support upgrading would definitely make sense but upgrading just to fix your broken license check does not sound compelling at all. I would then rather replace VPE with a tool that also supports Unicode.

Sad to say that because I like VPE but I have to make commercially feasible decisions.
