Crash on the function VpeLicense!

We have documents stored in the database that were created with the enterprise edition (with VPE 3.60) a few years ago.
Now we have the Professional Edition V5.00 in action. If we open an older document from the database the application crash!!
Is there a solution?! Thank you in advance!

I assume your application crashes, because VpeOpenDoc() returns a NULL-Handle and you do not check this value (you can not call any VPE functions with a NULL-Handle).

The NULL-Handle is returned, because you can not open document files with an edition, which is lower than the edition which created the document file. The reason is simple: Higher editions store structures and objects in document files, which are not implemented in lower editions.

Yes, you are right.
But now there is only a Professional-Edition (http://www.idealsoftware.com/dv_infolist.php) available, right?
What must we do to open the old printouts?
