VPE & Citrix on W2K

Postby virtualq » Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:44 am

I have seen some printing anomalies since using Citrix on W2K. When VPE generates a preview, does it use any printer driver? The print anomalies are present in the preview and look like a line of text has been output over the next line. I note from earlier topics and posts that you had a dll to fix some W2K/Citrix issues and I'm wondering if this may help me. Ot has there been a fix from Microsoft?

What version of VPE are you using?

I downloaded the latest from your website: VPE Standard Edition v4.00.

We originally used v3.2, but the results are the same with both versions.

We are knowing lots of customers using VPE v3.60 and v4.00 on Terminal Servers.

Technically, it is impossible that VPE v3.60 or v4.00 produces a problem like you describe.

Except:
a) You are doing something wrong.
b) You are using bitmap fonts (which also means you are doing something wrong).

Please run vpedemo.exe, which is installed with VPE v4.0. None of its demos will produce a problem as you describe. (Otherwise, please let me know.)

Please tell me if a printer driver is necessary or used to generate a VPE preview

VPE is printer-independent. What about the v4.0 demo? Do you have any problems with it?

The demo looks OK. If I run the Progress Application locally on the Citrix Server there is no issue. The issue displays in the preview when running the application via a Citrix session. Have you seen this issue before?

No. And since our demo is ok, I assume something else is wrong, but we have no clue what exactly could be the cause. Something with the font metrics must be bad, so that VPE computes a wrong line height.

I assume that objects are positioned correctly and do not overlap, but text within a single object does, is this correct? Is this happening with normal text and / or with Rich Text?

Perhaps it is a configuration problem or a problem with access permissions. Maybe it would be a good idea to contact Citrix technical support and ask them, if this is a known issue with Citrix.
