Free Updates

Postby zensoftbelgium » Fri Sep 23, 2005 10:27 am

As I checked the version of our current dll files (vpep3236.dll), it seems we are using Release 1.

In the announcements we can read that Ideal Software has released Release 4.

How can we obtain this update and how do we need to install it?

The topic Free Updates on the Support page says "Currently there are no updates available"!?

Thank you for your help.

Go to the download section and there you'll find VPE v3.60 R4.

Can I just overwrite the existing files?

You can install different versions in parallel, but you should not install the same version with a different release number, without uninstalling the previous release first. In other words: uninstall the old release and then install the new one.

When deploying our software on our customer's systems we just copy some dll/ocx files to the Windows system directory. We don't launch any executable. Is this wrong?

Since we didn't really 'install' the VPE release, I can't really uninstall it. What do I need to do?

What is the correct procedure to install and distribute the VPE run-time license? Is it ok to just copy the dll/ocx files, or is it better to execute the installation on each system?

Those files are:
- BarVisD.dll
- Dav3_32.dll
- leon3_32.dll
- vchart3236.dll
- vpdf3236.dll
- VpeCtrl36.ocx
- vpep3236.dll
- vzlib32.dll

I thought you meant the VPE SDK. On client machines you can just overwrite the old files.
