Issues with RichText and Frame Corner Radius in PDFs

Postby QuadraQ » Mon Sep 22, 2025 8:25 pm

Using VPE Enterprise 7.10 currently and created some substitute tax forms in DycoDoc. Everything - including saving to PDF - worked perfectly as of June 2nd, 2025. Then as some point saving to PDF stopped working correctly.

Specifically Rich Text fields and Frames. Text with different styles and/or fonts in Rich Text fields no longer line up when saving to PDF, and the radius of Frames changes from 0 cm to something closer to 0.05 cm radius (thus rounding the corners incorrectly). This is ONLY an issue when saving to PDF. The options used for the PDF (no font embedding, embedding the full font, embedding a subset of the font, or using PDF/A) make no difference.

The form displays correctly in the print preview window, and prints correctly as well. Saving it to .vpe format also works, and again it will display and print correctly in VPE View, but when saving to PDF in VPE View the same issue is present. (Creating a PDF by printing to a third party PDF creator like docuPrinter works fine, but that's just a workaround.)

It appears to be a bug that's contingent on the template used. Some older versions of the form template will work when loaded and saved to PDF, but newer versions will not. Again they both work in the print preview and actual print, it's just saving to PDF that's affected. Very strange and very frustrating as these are government forms - they have to be exact when saved.

Has this issue been addressed in newer versions of VPE?

This problem is not known. Please send DCD files of the old working template and the new non-working template by e-mail. If possible, mark in a screenshot the area where the problem occurs.

Please note that we provide bug fixes only to the current version (v7.40 at present) of VPE.
