The SDK online activation key could not be found

I have used VPE with Dataflex (VPE4VDF) for many years, but today the message "The SDK online activation key could not be found" suddenly started to turn up when I run programs in the Dataflex developing system. Compiled programs run without problems.

In a thread below I see that it might help to uninstall and the re-install the VPE SDK. But what shall be uninstalled? Is it possible to uninstall just the licence key or must the whole VPE program be uninstalled and ther re-installed?

You must run the uninstaller which is installed together with the VPE SDK.

After clicking Deactivate, uninstalling starts and goes to 2%. Then I get an error window Bad server response (Stage 0 Code 3). I have internet contacts and I deactivated the firewall. Then the performing uninstall shows 00 %, but it stop there. Nothing more happens.

It was not too easy to understand how it should be done, and when I got it I had tried to many times and was told to wait for two hours. This re-installation seems to be a tedious history.

This seems to be a Catch-22 issue. Now VPE 7.1 is uninstalled and deleted from my computer. Only uninstall.exe is left in the VPE_P32.710 map. However running the installation program say that the software is already installed and running uninstall say reading uninstall.inf failed. Entering the old challenge key doesn't work either, returning the message the challenge key is invalid.

I need to come further with this as it is blocking my program development work.

I had a copy of the VPE_P32.710 map that I copied to Program files (x86) and from that one uninstall could be run. I also seemed as I succeded to deactivate VPE over the net, but when I try to re-install VPE 7.10 I still get the message that The software is already installed.

I also doesn't find any registry keys to delete.

What more can be done?

This state can only be reached, if the uninstall is interrupted.

Delete the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall \ xxx

Where "xxx" is anything that starts with "Virtual Print Engine".

Please note: For 32-bit software on 64-bit Windows, the key is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall \ xxx

There is no key for VPE 7.10. I have also VPE 6.10 and VPE 7.00 installed, for them there are keys:

Virtual Print Engine SDK v7.00 Professional Edition 32-Bit
Virtual Print Engine SDK v6.10 Professional Edition 32-Bit

but i suppose that they shouldn't be deleted.

I searched the whole registry and there was no key referring to VPE 7.10

Today, I got the same problem again and I have no notes left about how it was solved last time.

Uninstall and re-install. The message appears, when the VPE SDK detects that the hardware was changed, for example your network card due to change of a virtual machine where VPE is running on.

If uninstall and re-install does not help, contact our support by e-mail.

Un-insatlling and re-installing fixed the problem.
