Download outdated versions

Outdated versions can not be downloaded. This is written below the license key on the download page of each customer account:

Please backup your license keys and the downloaded installation packages.
When a new version is released, old license keys and installation packages are removed from this portal.
Also if your subscription ends, license keys are removed and the download of installation packages is not possible.

If an older version is absolutely required, you can create a premium support account and we will provide in this context the installer by e-mail.

Wir sollen 150€ zahlen, um unseren Kunden, die seit der Aktualisierung von VPE 6.1 auf VPE 7.0 vermehrt über Abstürze klagen, zum Testen die 7.0R3-Version zu geben und anschließend festzustellen, dass sie womöglich immer noch Probleme haben?
Was ist denn das für eine Supporteinstellung?
Uns würde auch lediglich die vpee3270.dll ausreichen.

Please note that the forum language is english. You do not pay for support, because your customers experience problems with older versions of VPE on newer versions of Windows. You pay for support, because you did not make a backup.

Anyway, I looked up your customer data. You own a license for VPE v7.0, but as announced in this forum and as explained in the e-mail about the release of VPE v7.10 - which was sent to all registered customers - VPE v7.0 has compatibility issues with Win 10. Therefore sending you VPE v7.0 will not solve compatibility problems.

For compatibility tests of the current v7.10, you can use the trial-version of VPE. It can be installed safely in parallel to any other version or edition of VPE that is currently installed on your machine.

1. The Problem is NOT Windows 10 related - OS is Windows 7. It is VPE version related - we are sure about that, because we implemented a special plugin technology to switch back to older VPE versions without changing our code or DLLs (that was invented due to some surprises we had with VPE upgrades in the past).
Same layout, same workstation, same printer driver is working with VPE 6.1 but crashes with VPE 7.0.2.
2. We can not make a backup of Software we never downloaded.
Our latest Release was in March this year - but it takes some time until our customers update - often years. Reason is the complexity of our System (500 DLLs, >1000 Resource files, DataBase, etc.). So feedback might be late.
3. "Ideal" is the only vendor I know without accessible software archive for paying(!) customers - that is not ideal...

Each customer is informed by e-mail, when a new version - or free service release (like v7.0.3) - is available.

Maybe it is not ideal that we do not provide old versions for download, but maybe it was at least satisfying for you that we fixed a bug within a few weeks you had reported back in 2012 with the CharPlacement property - and that we did provide it as a free service release?

From our release log at http://www.idealsoftware.com/en/support/history_list.html, v7.0.3 does not include any special fixes regarding Win 7. There was a fix for a problem with RTF, but this was not platform specific. We still recommend to download and install the latest v7.10, to test if your problems are gone.

Might be helpfull to inform before(!) the latest free service release is removed.

The fixed RTF problem seems to be the right direction - Win 7 is mentioned to disprove that it is Win 10 realted as you suggested. It might exist in Win 10, Win 8, Vista etc.. VPE7.1 is not an option right now, because it will cost us time to recompile our framework.

I think the effort for your Investigation is much higher than providing the DLL for testing (that is btw. at my cost!).

v7.0.3 was released in March 2015 and was online for 8 months until November 2015, when it was replaced by v7.10.

When v7.0.3 was released in March, all customers were notified by e-mail, as always.
