Postby simonlec » Fri Jul 11, 2014 4:39 pm

Hi,
In the vpep64.exe, there is no internet folder but the folder is in the vpep32.exe.
Why?
Thank a lot for the VPE 7 release :D

Because we don't want to provide such a sample. The past has shown that the demo of the ActiveX within Internet Explorer is causing a lot of support work.

And as already written in this forum several times, we don't think that using an ActiveX in IE is a good solution. For platform independence, so that any browser on any platform is supported - including mobile devices - we recommend to create PDF files on a server using VPE, and to send those PDF files via HTTP to the client's browser.

Thank a lot

To find out the ActiveX class id, search the registry for VpeControl.VpeControl.<version>

I.e. for v6.10 search for VpeControl.VpeControl.61

and for v7.00 search for VpeControl.VpeControl.70

On 64-bit Windows, the class id for the 32-bit ActiveX is found in the "Wow6432Node" of the registry.

For v7.00 it is E4809925-0E64-4CF6-B7EE-229DE4963BE0 (for both: 32- and 64-bit)

I need to use VPE7 64bits too in internet explorer, i know you guys don't want us to use ActiveX and use HTTP server instead, but this is an intranet application. I need to try if it works before we buy the license.

How can i have the folder "internet" in the Vpe 7 32 bits version works in the VPE 7 64 bits version ?

Thanx a lot in advance!

We have no experience in using the 64-bit ActiveX within Internet Explorer (IE). We even don't know if this is still supported on 64-bit. The 32-bit IE demo contains detailed explanations in the header of the HTML file as comments. You can try to use those explanations on 64-bit, regarding LPK tool and other stuff which is required.

Just an informational update:

Microsoft decided that its next browser generation, called "Microsoft Edge", will no longer support the ActiveX technology. It will be released with Windows 10.

We appreciate this decision, as it had always been an island-solution that was incompatible to the rest of the world.
