VPE and Delphi 2009

Postby gablersoftware » Fri Apr 03, 2009 12:28 pm

Hi,
i'm new in developping with vpe and make some tests with the demo of vpe. Until now i find the component great, but i have one problem:
ist the vpe vcl compatible with Delphi 2009. Im getting a lot of errors by trying to integrate the component in a Delphi 2009 Win VCL Application. Under Delphi 2006 is the action successfull.
Thanks for help,

Helmut

Delphi2009 and V3.2 .vpe-files

Postby kaju74 » Mon Jan 18, 2010 3:36 pm

Hi..

I'm also using Delphi2009 and downloaded the latest community edition. After converting the headerfiles to be compatible with Delphi2009, I'm able to load .vpe-files (e.g. the bundled "cap.vpe").

BUT:

If I try to load .vpe-files created with the old 3.2 version, this doesn't work. I also get a "LastError" 200/202...???

Any ideas?

Best regards,
kaju

VPE v6.0 - coming in short - supports Delphi 2009 / 2010.

Please send the VPE file for analysis to our support e-mail address.

We can read the file without problems with VPE v5.0 and also with our internal v6.0. What version of VPE are you using?

Hi...

I'm using the community version and tryed it with the bundled "VPEView.exe".

As soon as I open the vpe-file, I've got the following error:

Error opening file!

Possible reason:
- Incompatible document version
- Access denied
- File is not a VPE document file
- File damaged

You can not open a file using a lower edition than the edition which was used for creating the file. This is so, because higher editions store objects - for example barcodes - which can not be processed with a lower edition.

The rule is: Higher editions can open files created with lower editions, but not vice versa.

Starting with with VPE v4.0 - and continued with VPE v5.0/6.0 - we reduced the prices by 50 to 70 percent (PDF Module now included) and changed the licensing model to a yearly subscription, so you receive one year free Service Releases and updates to full new versions, as well as Standard Support.

For those reasons there are no separate updates available. In fact the new price is, what the update price would have been. If you prolong the yearly maintenance subscription after a year without interruption, the cost will be 45% of the current purchase price.

There is no obligation to prolong the subscription, you can use and distribute the version of VPE - which you had received last - without a subscription.

....with the only problem, that this version isn't compatible with Delphi 2009/2010. I only need to migrate a Delphi7 project (using VPE) to Delphi 2009/2010...but if I had to buy a complete new version for ~1000€, this would be "out-of-budget" 8-)

But, thank you very much.

VPE v6.0 will be released in short (max. one week from now), which supports Delphi 2009 / 2010.

Out-of-budget is questionable. Compared to what you pay for internet access or a web server per year, VPE is cheap. But this is your decision.
