PDF Problem

Postby alanguille » Wed May 21, 2008 3:53 pm

With VPE 4.0R3, when I generate a document, preview and save it in pdf format, a few lines in arial font seems to be transformed in wingdings font (this is the font I can see if I cut and paste it into Word).
The transformed lines are the last one in my code.

If I repeat this operation but save it in vpe format this time, close it, open it again and save it in pdf format, the pdf looks like as expected.

Do you have any ideas about this problem ?

No idea so far. Please send a sample PDF by e-mail.

Make sure that:
* compression is turned off
* linearization (FastWebView) is turned off
* encryption is turned off

Please send also the VPE document file.

Please note that our office is closed until next monday due to local holidays in Germany.

We have received both files. The examination of the VPE document file showed that the font selected for the objects in question is indeed Wingdings. Your code has definiteley selected this font. Please check your code.

You were right, wingdings's font was selected, I was able to fix our code.

But shouldn't these objects have the windgings font visible in the preview too ? (and when it is saved in vpe format it doesn't look like wingdings too)

This is why I didn't suspect our code was involved in this problem.

In VPE the Charset property needs to be set to VCHARSET_SYMBOL, if a symbol font shall be used. However, the PDF Module does not require this (Windows requires it). For the PDF Module the font name is sufficient to select the symbol font. But you should not rely on this behaviour. Always set the charset to VCHARSET_SYMBOL before using a symbol font.
