VPE 3.6 R4 PDF module problem

Postby bkagan » Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:23 pm

Downloaded and installed VPE 3.6 R4 on Win2000 SP4 machine.
I have a license which looks like VPE-Sxxxx-xxxx xxxx-xxxx.
I am trying to use PDF module but could not find VpeLicense (or just License) method. Am I doing something wrong? Language is VFP9.
Note, that VPE 3.5 worked fine in same environment.

Thanks,
Boris

I assume you are using the VPE-ActiveX. In this case you must enter the PDF license key during the installation of VPE (the same for the VPE .NET component).

But your VPE license key for v3.50 - or earlier versions - will not unlock VPE v3.60. You need to purchase the update.

Re-installed using PDF-S... key. Still same problem. Instantiated VPE object has no "License" method. All produced PDFs have demo banner.

I am using version 3.6 keys.

Is the demo banner also shown in VPE's preview? If so, this is the well known (and in the VPE readme for the VFOX demos documented) problem that VFOX has with new versions of ActiveX controls. Solution: remove the old VPE ActiveX control's from the forms of your application and re-insert them (with the same name and properties). This will solve the problem.

Note: this is a special problem of Visual FoxPro. Other tools, like VB for example, don't have such problems.

Created new form and inserted a VPE object. when tried to call License method got an error message:

OLE error code 0x80020006. Unknown name.

If I ignore it and continue than my PDF has demo banner.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Boris

Starting with v3.60, there is no license method in the ActiveX (nor in the .NET component), please read the manuals. VPE and the PDF module are registered when installing VPE. Just enter both license keys during setup and that's it.
