Transparent png pictures

Postby Bengt » Wed Jan 05, 2022 2:03 pm

Is it possible to use transparent pictures and get the transparency working in VPE. I print one picture with transparent parts over another picture, but the transparent parts get white. I use VPE 7.10 Professional.

Bitmap transparency and alpha channels are not supported. It would require to assemble each full page with all its content as bitmap internally. Since VPE supports really huge page dimensions, this could break the limits of available memory. It would also make preview and printing slow.

Wouldn't it be possible to have flag for choosing bitmap transparence on each document so only such documents use a lot of memory and slow down printing? It would be an important improvement to be able to print logotypes on pictures and on colored backgrounds like plain text when transparent mode is set.

The amount of work involved into changing critical parts of VPE would be huge. If your logos are available as vector graphics, you can export them as EMF (Windows Enhanced Metafile) and import them into VPE.
