override print option in VPE preview

Users are running an application from an Azure cloud server using remote desktop.
if they send the print output to the VPE preview window then decide they want to print it, the print icon button defaults to the server default printer (Microsoft print to pdf)
Is there a way to call my own code when clicking on this button so I can present users with their default remote printer?

We have no experience with remote desktop applications. But shouldn't the application run under the credentials of the user? How would you retrieve the default printer of the user, i.e. with what specific code?
