PDF Quality Setting

Postby aldavhu221 » Thu Jan 09, 2014 4:55 pm

A client uses our system incorporating VPE 6.10 to generate PDF files which are often displayed at meetings on an overhead projector. However the enlarged image is far from perfect. Is there any way of improving the PDF quality setting in VPE?

PDF is vector graphics, so the quality is always very good. The only exception is, when you embed bitmaps into PDF.

If you wish, you can purchase premium support and we will analyze your PDF, in order to give some hints.

As a follow-up, why is it that in Adobe Acrobat Pro X, for example, there are options on the quality (and, correspondingly, the file size) of the PDF to be created. The documentation talks about four standard levels as
72 dpi, 300 dpi, 1200 dpi and 2400 dpi and their equivalents in terms of line screen ruling and image resolution.

The VPE default seems to be 72 dpi (or standard screen resolution). Is there any way we can improve on this by, perhaps, specifying a more capable printer?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

For all vector graphics, VPE is using 2540 DPI. Without analyzing your document, we can not say what is going wrong on your side.
