Regarding VPE:
If you mean to add text interactively to the preview using the keyboard and mouse, this is not possible. You could emulate in some way such behaviour using the Interactive Edition, but you do not receive any coordinates of mouse clicks. Therefore you would need to find a way to let the user specify where to add an interactive text object on a page. Programmatically you can add objects at any point in time to a VPE document, even to a VPE document that has been stored in a file.

Regarding dycodoc:
dycodoc can read and edit VPE document files. You can make modifications to existing objects and add new objects using the keyboard and mouse.
