VPE 7.2 and Outlook (new vs classic)

Postby Mark Powers » Sat Jun 06, 2026 4:47 pm

We had one of our users switch to "new outlook" for Office 365 and the VPE e-mail interface stopped. My conclusion is that the "New Outlook" from what I am reading does not support Com. So I had the user switch back to classic outlook and the VPE interface worked fine.

My question is, with newer VPE versions (7.4 I think is the latest), is there any new method that is used to communicate with Outlook where the "new outlook" could be used? Just wanted to ask for I could inform people when they ask. If yes, it would be a great reason to require me to upgrade. But if not, I totally understand.
Thanks

"New Outlook" uses the Microsoft Graph API. VPE does not support the Microsoft Graph API and we have currently no plans to do so. It will require your end-users (your customers) to register your application online. They then receive a tenantId, a clientId and a clientSecret. All three must be entered into your application to work properly (and you would need to forward them to VPE). I suggest you read yourself about the Microsoft Graph API. We don't think it is intended to be used by classic desktop applications.
