PDF/A supported by the next release of VPE

Informational:

The next release of our VPE Report Tool and PDF Library will support the creation of PDF/A documents for long-term archiving.

The supported standard will be ISO 19005-1:2005, PDF/A-1b.

The PDF/A export code is done and currently under heavy testing.

Please do not ask when the next version will be released.

We are still having delays with the Windows 64-bit port, because we need not only to port the DLL (which is done), but also the ActiveX (done), the .NET component (done), the Delphi VCL component and the Java component. This means five times the work, than for a single component! And we are still working internally on components for PHP, Python, Ruby and Perl. In addition the vast amount of demo source codes for each supported programming language needs to be adapted.

It is our company policy that our software is released when it is done, and not when it is scheduled to be done, i.e. when:
- The internal conception is well thought out
- The code is clean and stable
- The API is clean, extensible and future-proof
- The code has been tested thoroughly

This is the foundation for the high quality we constantly provide - and that is what makes the difference.
