VCL OpenDoc() forces visible

We're using the VCL interface for VPE 3.6 under C++ Builder 6, and we've noticed that when we call OpenDoc(), the control is set to visible. We have to reset it to not show, but this causes "flashing". Why would the OpenDoc() make the control visible? We haven't done anything yet, why would we want to show it?

In this case set the property "Visible = false" in the Object Inspector of the C++ Builder IDE.
