showing JPEG in preview fails

I'm useing VPE 3.10 Professional version in VFP 6.0.

I try to insert a picture in a VPE document.
In my testsurrounding I use Code this code

thisform.vpe.picture(100,150, VFREE, VFREE, "awd1.jpg", 0)

as it is given in the example.
All I get to see is a with box with black lines and crossing lines from border to border, the symbol for a picture cannot be shown.

Whats wrong, what can I do?

There are two possible reasons:

1) The file is not found. Make sure your current working directory is set to the directory where the image is located, or use a fully qualified path to the image file when calling Picture().

2) The file format can not be read. In this case the file might be damaged or it might contain information which can not be interpreted by VPE. Since VPE v3.10 is about 6 years old, I suggest you download the current version as trial version and check if it can read the file.

Thanks very much, silly me

Of course it was the first reason...

When I do it with my test program it works with a distinct file.
If I use in the application I use same file in same folder with hard-coded path and here it again fails to be shown.

The program was'nt mainly coded by me. Is there any possibility to prevent VPE from showing, a property I can search for?
Or are there any other ideas?

I don't understand this question. What exactly shall not be shown by VPE?

The JEPG shall be shown!

When I insert a distinc picture in a thin test program it works. When I insert the same picture, same folder in the big application it doesn't work.

I'm simply looking for any reason why this is so.

The big application was not written by me. Maybe there is the reason in the cod, therefore I asked

There is no option in VPE to turn images off. The problem must be within your application.
